Woofball Week 15 Results

Wow, last night's game was ugly!  The Giants crushed the Redskins; Manning was 19 of 26 passing for 268 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions while the Redskin's QB Jason Campbell threw one interception and was sacked five times.

It got even uglier at the beginning of the fourth quarter when a fight broke out between the teams.  And Washington, what was up with that goofy trick play on fourth down?  They lined up for a field goal kick, then shifted to a left-heavy passing formation.  The Giants noticed and quickly called a time out, but when they came back from break they did the exact same thing. It worked earlier this year in a game against Denver but it kind of takes the element of surprise out of the play when you do it again.

Anyway, the Giants MORE than covered their point spread, and this week's drawing winner is Belen!  She will receive a $10 gift certificate off any Doggie Oasis service.

This week's Woofball winner is Rudy!

Congrats you two!

Next Monday's game is going to be the Vikings at Chicago.  I've been to this game in Chicago, and let me tell you, it's a great time!  The Vikes are 7 point favorites, but Chicago plays tough at home in December.  Get your picks in today!

Our rescue this week is Foreclosed Upon Pets Inc:

Foreclosed Upon Pets, Inc. (FUPI) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue of domesticated animals that have been abused and/or abandoned by their owners as a result of economic hardship, including home foreclosure, loss of employment, insufficient income, or death and illness. FUPI will work to further the cause of animal control through the education of the general public about the humane benefits of spay and neuter programs. FUPI will take on a leadership role in developing strategies and creating coalitions with other animal rescue organizations in order to better serve the residential and commercial sectors of the community in the fight against animal cruelty.

Foreclosures affect pets too!

Webster’s definition of foreclosure:  To shut out.
FUPI will make its services known to individual owners of pets who are suffering from the following:
  1. Economic hardship due to loss of job/home
  2. Insufficient income
  3. Temporary housing for hospitalized pet owners
  4. Temporary housing of military pets
  5. Death of a pet owner
Some pets come from loving families that have no choice but to relinquish their animals to animal control authorities due to home foreclosure.
Some rescued pets come from owners who have passed away or due to severe illness can no longer care for their pet.
Other animal’s come from less responsible pet owners who have neglected, abused and/or abandoned their pets. Upon rescue, many of these animals are in need of medical attention, appropriate food, and socialization with people and other animals.
FUPI’s approach to animal rescue will be a proactive alternative to animal cruelty and abandonment.

Bo, an eleven-year-old Sheltie, spends a lot of his time sleeping in the corner, but Tank has decided that he really likes him, so occasionally Bo will come out and play!

Action in the Minis Room

The minis are pretty rambunctious today!  We've got a very playful crowd.  Sunday, Bogey, Sox, occasionally Louie (who goes in the big dog area too), and new guy Bud are having a blast.

Woofball Week 14 Results

The Cards last night looked like the Cards from a couple years ago.  Kurt Warner hadn't thrown an interception in 130 passes, but last night he threw two.  Each of the Cards running backs got a fumble each.  Crippled with turnovers, the Cards lost to the 49ers 9-24.  Good news for San Fran; the win keeps their fragile playoff hopes alive.

And good news for Friday.  His mom picked the Niners to win, and as underdogs, Friday wins a $25 gift certificate for any Doggie Oasis service.  Congrats, Friday!  Your mom is smart!

This week's Woofball winner was Chloe!

She's boarding so she'll get a football to take home with her.  Congrats, Chloe!

Next Monday's game will be NY Giants at Washington Redskins.  The Giants are three point favorites at a week out.

Our rescue this week is Las Vegas Doberman & Dachshund Rescue:

The Las Vegas Doberman Pinscher and Dachshund group is a dedicated group of volunteers that love the breeds and want to help as many as possible find permanent homes. Our dogs come from a variety of places including the local shelter, owner turn ins as well as strays that aren’t reclaimed by their owners. Our goal is to help as many dogs as possible however we can only help as many as the number of volunteers we have. Each dog is taken to the vet for a thorough exam, they are spayed/neutered and microchipped as well as fully vaccinated. Any medical needs that the animal has are attended to. Our foster homes evaluate the personality of the dogs so we can know their likes and dislikes, we want to match them as best as possible to their new homes.

What started as something I did every once in a while turned into a real rescue with plenty of dedicated volunteers who love the breed and want to help. All of us volunteers receive no monetary compensation just a warm fuzzy feeling when we help a dog get into his new forever home. All monies collected through donations go 100% to the dogs care and medical costs. Unfortunately the need for our help has grown over the years due to indiscriminate breeding done by people looking to make a quick buck. Please do your part and spay or neuter your pet.

Thanks to everyone who donated, and good luck next week!

Puppies playing

Here's a video of Harley (red nosed Pit Bull) and Tank (Old English Bulldog) playing. They LOVE each other. Also, special cameo by Gottis the Boxer.

Rosebud's love life

Well, looks like the Thing between Rosebud and Wyatt is over.  She still gets super excited when he shows up, but he wants nothing to do with her.  As Wyatt's mom says, "Just like a guy!"  We keep telling Rosebud she's trying to hard, that she has to make herself a little less available, but she still tries.

She's found her rebound guy.  He's surprisingly not a Husky; he's a Bichon Frise.

Sadly for Rosebud, he doesn't seem interested in her.

Poor Rosie.  She always goes after the unavailable men.  *Sigh* Girl, I know what you're going through.
