ZOMBIE BALL!

Zombies are toast here at Doggie Oasis!

Norman, that tiny little Boston Terrier, is definitely the one who I'd want at my side during a zombie apocalypse! He went straight for the head and did not let go.

Yep, that poor zombie is DEAD.  Again.  Like dead-dead, not living-dead.  Our dogs took care of him in less than two minutes!

Howl-o-Ween week activities are in full swing!

Check out some photos of today's Bobbing for Ice Cubes. In a big witch cauldron!

Week 7 Woofball results are in!

Yesterday Lillie took home the football for being a great cheerleader!  She always has a sunny attitude and she likes to bark her encouragement while Woofball is being played.

Monday night's game was a bit of a letdown after the last two very exciting MNF games.  There were injuries on both teams which made for lots of turnovers and little scoring.  The Eagles beat the Redkins, however, and this week's drawing winner was Bowzer!  He will receive a $10 gift certificate for any Doggie Oasis service.

Congratulations Lillie and Bowzer!

This week's game is Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints.  The Saints are 10 point favorites early in the week, and I'd like to think a lot of that has to do with my boy Drew Brees, who was my classmate at Purdue. Go Boilers!

Our rescue group this week is LV Doberman and Dachshund Rescue:

My name is Brenda Borelli and I am the founder of the Las Vegas Doberman and Dachshund rescue. Dobermans have been a part of my life since I was a little girl, I have always had one or two in my life. In 2001 I lost my red girl Ariel to cancer and what began as a search for another red girl became the beginning of my rescue. I discovered there were so many Dobermans in need of new homes and I felt compelled to help them. Since than, I have helped hundreds of homeless Dobermans find new, forever homes. I currently share my life with a red female named Autumn and a red male named Stryker.

Dachshunds first came into my life around 1999 when I was given one that needed a new home. I fostered the little girl in my home and eventually placed her and at the same time realizing I really enjoyed the Dachshund breed. I began to seek out more Dachshunds and learned more about the breed. Since I am a veterinary technician I am exposed to a large variety of breeds and personalities and I made it a point to meet all of the Dachshunds that came into the clinic. Eventually I adopted a Dachshund of my own, a little female who was born without a tail that nobody wanted. I now share my life with three Dachshunds, all three rescues.

The Las Vegas Doberman Pinscher and Dachshund group is a dedicated group of volunteers that love the breeds and want to help as many as possible find permanent homes. Our dogs come from a variety of places including the local shelter, owner turn ins as well as strays that aren’t reclaimed by their owners. Our goal is to help as many dogs as possible however we can only help as many as the number of volunteers we have. Each dog is taken to the vet for a thorough exam, they are spayed/neutered and microchipped as well as fully vaccinated. Any medical needs that the animal has are attended to. Our foster homes evaluate the personality of the dogs so we can know their likes and dislikes, we want to match them as best as possible to their new homes.

What started as something I did every once in a while turned into a real rescue with plenty of dedicated volunteers who love the breed and want to help. All of us volunteers receive no monetary compensation just a warm fuzzy feeling when we help a dog get into his new forever home. All monies collected through donations go 100% to the dogs care and medical costs. Unfortunately the need for our help has grown over the years due to indiscriminate breeding done by people looking to make a quick buck. Please do your part and spay or neuter your pet.

The Las Vegas Doberman and Dachshund rescue is recognized by the IRS as an official 501c3 tax exempt organization and all donations are tax deductible.

Thanks again to everyone who donated last week (especially the Dutts!) and good luck this week!

Rosebud and Wyatt: The Courtship Progresses

Remember this post? Well Rosebud's pursuit of Wyatt is going along nicely. Here's a 4.5 min video of the two of them "dating."

Nathan

Nathan the Basset Hound hasn't been in for over a year so we did a re-eval last weekend.  He's just the same: a sweet, grumpy old man.  If he were human, he'd complain about something and then slip you a fiver. :)

Week 6 Woofball Results

Another exciting MNF game this week!  The first half was all special teams with a kickoff return and two punt returns for touchdowns.  The lead switched back and forth between the two teams numerous times, but at the end of the 4th quarter the Broncos ran away with it with a controversial touchdown and their defense managed to stop Phillip Rivers and the Chargers from making a comeback.

As the underdogs, this week's Broncos pick wins $25 off any Doggie Oasis service.  Reaching into the jar...pulling out a raffle ticket...and the winner is Belen!  Congratulations!

This week's Woofball winner is Pacino.  He's an avid ball player but very polite to the other players.  His grace and sportsmanship won him his football prize this week.

Next Monday's game will be Philidelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins.  Looks like Washington is about 7 point underdogs.  Donations collected this week will go to The German Shepherd Rescue:

German Shepherd Rescue Las Vegas is an organization of dedicated volunteers committed to offering essential care, rehabilitation and adoption services to neglected, stray and owner surrendered German Shepherd Dogs in the Las Vegas Valley.
German Shepherd Rescue Las Vegas came into being out of a love and admiration of this noble breed. Each of these animals have an instinctive potential to develop an unwavering love for their human companions. We have committed to giving each of these dogs a unique opportunity to share their love, companionship and natural protective instincts with an adoptive family.

Since the Las Vegas shelters are what is categorized as 'high kill', our purpose is to give these animals the extra time needed to find that special adoptive family who will appreciate the beauty, intelligence and dignity that has consistently been a distinctive trait of this breed.
If you are interested in adopting from our organization please complete the Adoption Application or call us at 775-910-1640.
Please help us save just one.
Will You Do What You Can
 To Save One?

German Shepherd Rescue of Las Vegas understands that not everyone can adopt a new family member. If you would like to help in other ways contact us or please consider making a donation.

Again, thanks to everyone who has been donating to these great rescue groups.  We really appreciate it!  Good luck this week!

It's all about love today. The pups are super affectionate today!

More love from Isis

If you're a fan of ours on Facebook, you saw yesterday's collage of Isis sitting on Chase.

Here she is today sitting on Keoni. Guess she really likes blonds!

Can I just get some love?
